Emerald Park

In September I had a crazy day trip to Ireland, to visit Emerald Park. While it is possible I would really not recommend doing this as a day trip! This was an event with 45 minutes of Exclusive Ride Time, originally planned to be Cú Chulainn (Gravitykraft wooden coaster) and the new for 2024 coasters, Fianna Force (Vekoma STC) and Quest (Vekoma Family Boomerang), however the wooden coaster was closed for the rest of the season shortly before the date of our trip so this was swapped for Dino Dash (Vekoma Family Coaster).

As my first visit to this park I was a little disappointed in Cú Chulainn’s closure, and wasn’t expecting anything to break my top 10 – I don’t particularly rate inverted coasters – however, I was wrong there!

Fianna Force is a very good coaster with a great layout, some airtime, and in a really nicely themed area. Unfortunately the theming hadn’t been completely finished but once this is, it will look really good. We had 22 goes over the course of the day (10 during the ERT) and it has found its place as number 8 in my top 10.

I’ll have to return once Cú Chulainn re-opens to give that a go and it’ll be great to get back on Fianna Force. I hope that we get some more of these new Vekoma Suspended Thrill Coasters – it is crazy to think that this was made by the same people who unleashed the SLC into the world.
